The Town of Kirklin has announced that Smith Trash Service has notified community members that they will not be picking up trash today, Monday, Jan. 20 along with the rest of the week due to extreme cold temperatures out of an abundance of caution for their employees.
The Town stated that normally the trash service would schedule the pick-up for the next day, but the service has stated that based on the forecast, the frigid temperatures will continue throughout the week. The service stated that due to their weekly schedule being filled, the Town of Kirklin will not have trash picked up this week.
The service will be picking up two weeks worth of trash next week based on the normal trash collection schedule. The Town stated that the service and employees are aware that increased amounts of trash may be set out by residents, and residents are encouraged to place all trash out by their toters regardless of whether it will fit inside.
