The City of Frankfort has officially proclaimed April 24 as “Tootsie Roll Day” as donations are being raised for a local organization through the distribution of tootsie rolls.
Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets proclaimed today, April 24, as Tootsie Roll Day as a means of drawing attention to the campaign launched by The Knights of Columbus every year to help organizations in the county. This year, the Knights are accepting donations for the Abilities Services in Frankfort. The Knights will be stationed at Schulz IGA and The Farmers Bank in early May to distribute tootsie rolls and encourage community members to donate for the cause.
Sheets read a proclamation Wednesday to officially declare the days in effect for Frankfort.
Whereas, Council No. 5294 of the Knights of Columbus has successfully engaged in a Tootsie Roll Campaign in the past which has raised funds for the Abilities Services; and
Whereas, Abilities Services is a local establishment, which is very beneficial in providing meaningful lives for the disabled in and around the Frankfort area; and
Whereas, Said Abilities Services remains in business through the generous donations of interested citizens in the community; and
Whereas, Council No. 5294 of the Knights of Columbus is once again engaging in the distribution of the Tootsie Rolls in exchange for donations from which all proceeds will be given to Abilities Services in Frankfort, Indiana.
Now, Therefore, I, Judith E. Sheets, Mayor of the City of Frankfort, Indiana do hereby proclaim May 3 and May 4, 2024 as
Tootsie Roll Days
