In this Year of Love, shaped by Love, Kurt, a book of letters exchanged between Kurt Vonnegut and his girlfriend-turned-wife Jane, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library (KVML) is highlighting programs that reflect care, connection, and community well-being. In recognition of American Heart Health Month, KVML will offer a week of free, life-saving heart health resources, including an interactive digital education kiosk and a hands-on CPR training session on Valentine’s Day.
From February 9–16, visitors are invited to explore the Cardiac Education Digital Information Kiosk, made possible by the Eric N. Prystowsky, MD Cardiac Arrhythmia Center-Ascension St. Vincent Foundation. The kiosk features short, accessible segments on a range of heart-health topics, or visitors may view the full 90-minute program. Access is free during regular museum hours.
On Friday, February 14, KVML will host a free, in-person CPR training led by Dennis Disney, RRT-ACCS, E-AEC, from 12:00–2:00 PM. The session includes hands-on practice with CPR mannequins and is open to individuals and families. No prior experience is required.
“Heart health is something that touches every family,” said Julia Whitehead, Founder and CEO of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library. “Offering practical, life-saving skills, especially on Valentine’s Day, feels like a meaningful way to live out Vonnegut’s belief in common decency and care for one another.”
While the events are free, registration is required for the CPR training to ensure adequate space and materials.
