Lafayette Commerce Hosting Virtual Manufacturing Month

In a world that is constantly changing, Greater Lafayette Commerce continues to provide a fun and safe way to educate all ages on manufacturing awareness and career exploration. We are pleased to announce that for 2020 Manufacturing Week is now Manufacturing Month and will be delivered virtually.
Greater Lafayette Commerce partners with local manufacturers for workforce programs that serve over 27 school corporations. In 2019, Manufacturing Week served over 3,500 students with in-person activities including manufacturing tours, manufacturing expos and manufacturing workshops.
The goal of the program is manufacturing awareness, career exploration and career preparation. The program is designed to enhance the perception of modern manufacturing and connect with the next generation of manufacturers in our community.
The month will be divided into four weeks, each of which will introduce a unique career set within manufacturing: Design It, Produce It, Move It, and Support It. Manufacturing Month will include a library of videos and correlating activities for educators to share in their classrooms and/or with their virtual students. Greater Lafayette Workforce Development hopes to resume in-person programming in 2021.
