The Lafayette Fire Department has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Recruit Firefighter Class.
Applications will be due on May 31, and the application process may be started at lafayette.in.gov/782/employment.
The department offers paid recruitment academy, an exceptional work environment, competitive wages, employee assistance program, medical, dental and vision insurance options, city HSA contribution, generous leave package, holiday pay, clothing allowance, longevity pay, overtime pay, opportunities for advancement, special teams incentive pay, INPRS pension and 457 deferred pension plan. The 2025 salary ranges are $72,539.48 for recruits, $80,547.48 for firefighters and $86,547.48 for pension base.
