Lanny B. Moore, 88, of Frankfort, passed away November 29, 2024 at home with his family by his side. He was born February 16, 1936 in Frankfort, Ind. to John A. & Rachel M. (Shoemaker) Moore. He married Mary Alice Hobson on November 30, 1956 at the First Church of the Nazarene and she survives.
Lanny graduated from Rossville High School in 1955. He was a GM Tech Center and ASE certified automotive technician at Schied Oldsmobile, Cadillac & GMC for 25 years, followed by a 10-year career with Caterpillar’s Lafayette operations, retiring in 1998.
He and Mary Alice were members of the First Church of the Nazarene for many years and most recently attended Frankfort Bible Holiness Church. Lanny enjoyed custom woodworking, metal fabrication, antique engine and tractor restorations, as well as machinist work from his home shop. In post-retirement he was a machinist with Vetamac Corp. of Rossville IN.
Lanny is survived by his spouse, Mary Alice Moore of Frankfort, sons: Randy B. (Rhonda) Moore of Frankfort, Bryan S. (Lora) Moore of Frankfort and Craig A. (Amy) Moore of Indianapolis, grandchildren: Alexander Moore of Reno, NV, Annelise Q. Moore of Indianapolis, brother: Gene A. (Barbara) Moore of Poland, IN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, half-sister, Madge Pearson and half-brother, John B. Moore, brother-in-law, Robert Hobson, sister-in-law, Julia Hobson and nephew, Michael Hobson and grandson, Tyler A. Moore.
Visitation will be 12 Noon-2 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Frankfort Bible Holiness Church or American Cancer Fund.
