Larry D. Oren, 83, of Rossville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2026. Born on February 12, 1942, to Harreldean and Geneva (Randol) Oren, Larry lived a life defined by hard work, a sense of adventure, and a deep, quiet faith that showed through his actions.
On June 23, 1962, Larry married the love of his life, Margo Pollard. Their 64-year marriage was a beautiful journey of companionship. Together, they explored the beauty of the country by motorcycle and car. One cherished memory was a month-long road trip to California visiting Yellowstone, Pike’s Peak and the Badlands. Larry’s spirit of fun was perhaps best shown on their 50th anniversary, when he took Margo ziplining in Branson, Missouri —a testament to a life lived with a young heart.
Larry graduated from Summitville High School in 1961. A dedicated worker, Larry retired from General Motors in Anderson and was a proud member of the UAW. But his true legacy was found in the woodshop. He was a master woodworker who built everything from family kitchen cabinets to a cherished bookshelf for his daughter. One of his proudest achievements was the handmade cedar strip canoe he built alongside his brother, Ron. As a Scoutmaster, he passed his love for fishing, trapping, and camping on to the next generation.
Above all, Larry was a family man. He is survived by his devoted wife; children, Anthony and Lorena; Grandchildren, Zachary (Athena) and Jenna (Brandon); and Great-Grandchildren, Adler and Lucas.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ron and his beloved cat, Lousia.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 17, 2025, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm with Pastor David Bushfield officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Larry’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011
