Laura Louise Lane Holliger, 95, formerly of Frankfort, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at her home in Rochester, Indiana. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 24, 1926 to Henry Wm. and Blanche Jane (Conger) Lane. She married Samuel I. “Sam” Holliger on December 7, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois; he preceded her in death on December 6, 2015.
Laura graduated from Pekin High School in Pekin, Illinois. In 1950, Laura and Sam moved to Frankfort so he could pursue his lifelong dream of working for the Nickel Plate Railroad. Upon his passing in 2015, she moved to Rochester. In addition to raising her family, Laura worked for W.F. Woolworth then went to National Seal (Federal Mogul) for 41 years retiring in 2014. She loved spending time with her family, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.
She formerly attended the Apostolic Christian Church in West Lafayette, Indiana, and the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Frankfort where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served on the Church Council, and delivered Meals on Wheels. While living in Rochester, she was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was the cutting edge of the LWML Mission stamps.
Surviving Laura are her four children, Jeri Ann (Jack) Kieninger of Rochester, Indiana, Kathy Jean (Robert) Kieninger of Shelbyville, Indiana, Michael Douglas Holliger of Rochester, Indiana and James Russell (Barbara) Holliger of Lynn, Indiana; brother, Malvern (Jean) Lane of Harlington, Texas; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Laura is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan; sisters, Lynas Leeds and Marjorie Jansma; and a brother, Ronald Lane.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with Pastor Curtis May officiating. A livestream of the service will be available online at www.gendafuneralhome.com for those who would like to join virtually. Burial will follow in the Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.
