Lebanon Police Department Arrest Subject in Stabbing

Around 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Lebanon Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Oak Street on a report of an argument between a group of people outside a residence. When Officers arrived on scene, they were notified by Dispatch of a victim who was stabbed in the area of Hamilton Street and Walnut Street.

Officers went to the area and located James Mossburg 26, of Lebanon. Mossburg was injured and bleeding. Officers treated Mossburg at the scene until medics arrived. Mossburg was transported to an Indianapolis, Indiana area hospital for life threatening injuries, however, is stable at time of this release. Mossburg’s injuries were obtained during the altercation at the 800 block of Oak Street in Lebanon.

During the course of the investigation Detectives were able to identify the suspect involved in the stabbing as Jeremiah Smith 31 of Lebanon. Lebanon Police Department Detective’s obtained a search warrant for a home in the 1000 block of Campbell Street in Lebanon, Indiana. While executing the search warrant Officers and Detectives were able to locate Smith in the residence. Smith was transported to the Lebanon Police Station and questioned by Detectives. Smith was then transported to Boone County Jail and released to Jail staff. Smith was booked into the Jail under the charge of Battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
