Lebanon Public Library Block Party Summer Reading Kick-Off Takes To Downtown Lebanon On Monday

The Lebanon Public Library is hosting a block party to celebrate the kickoff of its Kenworthy Summer Reading program on June 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Lebanon.

The library announced that the streets of downtown Lebanon are expected to have some closures on Monday to celebrate the kickoff of the summer reading program as the community is invited to embark on reading adventures geared to entertain and educate.

The event will feature live music by local band Journey and Jet alongside activities such as carnival games, bounce houses, an obstacle course, crafts, scavenger hunts, airbrush tattoos by Fabulously Fun Company and more. The community will also be treated to prizes, the Heavenly Acres Farm Petting Zoo and refreshments during the festivities.

Special events kick off at 1 p.m. with Mr. Scott’s Giant Bubble Show where community members are invited to experience the mesmerizing craft of “bubble magic” with Mr. Scott. The show features bubbles larger than cars as well as bubbles big enough to fit the audience’s children inside. The family-friendly performance set to music is deemed appropriate for all ages.

“With his many years of experience, Mr. Scott brings a unique and unforgettable spectacle that will leave attendees in awe and wonder,” the library released.

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the community is invited to a meet and greet with Beauty Princess and Beastly Prince, who will delight audiences with magical experiences as they interact with their favorite storybook characters. Children will be provided the opportunity to meet and take photos with the characters to remember the experience. The meet and greet is geared toward young fans and families seeking a touch of fairy tale magic during the day.

“Enjoy a personal moment with these beloved characters, hear them share stories of their adventures and create memories that will last a lifetime,” the library released.

Registration for the summer reading program began on May 28, and community members may embark on the adventure during the block party. Registration may also be completed online at leblib.beanstack.org. The online resource allows participants to digitally track their reading progress throughout the summer for the chance to earn free books and prizes.
