Douglas Gibson, 38, of Lebanon, was indicted on charges in the US District Court for Southern Indiana. Gibson was indicted by the grand jury on charges of 2 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor by a registered sex offender, distribution of child sexual abuse material, and possession of child sexual abuse material.
The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force out of Boone County, received a cyber tip alerting investigators to an online account that had been sharing child sexual abuse material. Boone County Investigators determined Gibson to be the owner of the account being used.
On September 15, 2022, Boone County Investigators detained Gibson and served search warrants on Gibson’s person, home, and vehicle. Through their investigation, Gibson was found to be in possession of many files containing child sexual abuse material. Gibson allegedly created child sexual abuse materials and then distributed those images and files to other individuals.
The Boone County ICAC investigators, now working as part of the Boone County C.A.S.E Task Force, partnered with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department ICAC Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and the United States Attorney’s Office to facilitate the federal prosecution of Douglas Gibson. This investigation demonstrates the ongoing collaboration between the Boone County C.A.S.E Task Force and their federal partners in pursuing the offenders who produce and distribute these materials.
Gibson was arrested on September 15, 2022, and has remained in custody since his arrest.
