Lela M. Threlkeld

Mrs. Lela M. Threlkeld, 95, passed away at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana on Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was born near Elizaville in Boone County, Indiana, on August 21, 1928, a daughter of the late John Henry Lynch and Bernice Irene (Virtue) Lynch.

Lela was a 1947 graduate of Kirklin High School.

On December 4, 1948, she was married to Virgil Leon Threlkeld at the Pleasant View Church Parsonage. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2006.

Lela was employed at Boss Glove Company in Lebanon, in retail sales at Bonworth for four years, and at the Thorntown Dairy Queen for 17 years.

Lela attended Thorntown Christian Church and was a member of P.E.O.. She volunteered at Witham Memorial Hospital for several years. Lela enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who found joy in spending time with her loved ones, creating memories that will never be forgotten. Above all, she was a dedicated wife and loving mother and grandmother. She always made time to care for her family.

Survivors include her children, David (Jane) Threlkeld, Dan (Rebecca) Threlkeld, Dick (Michele) Threlkeld, Dennis (Tammy) Threlkeld, and Diane (Eric) Detty; grandchildren, Brad (Holly) Threlkeld, Jeff Threlkeld, Thomas (Melissa) Threlkeld, Kaci (Marco) Velazquez, Ryan (Alicia) Threlkeld, Alexandra Threlkeld, Annelise Threlkeld, Nick (Casey) Threlkeld, Sarah Threlkeld, Kurtis (Amy)Threlkeld, Erika Threlkeld, Micara (Will) Mock, Tyler (Lorinda) Clements, Tayler (Daniel) Demaree, Bryce Detty, and Karly Detty; 27 great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Mae Doolan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lela was preceded in death by her infant son, Ricky Dee Threlkeld; sisters, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Timmons, Mildred Fern Lynch, and Barbara Ann Hieston; brother, Jack Lee “Jackie” Lynch; and brothers-in-law, Carl Doolan, Doyle Hieston, and Jim Timmons.

Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Those not in attendance will be able to view her funeral services on Myers Mortuary’s Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Pisgah Cemetery in Montgomery County, Indiana.
