Leonard L. Reed

Leonard L. Reed, 77, of Frankfort, died March 8, 2023 at Franciscan Hospital, Lafayette, Ind.  He was born August 16, 1945 in Frankfort, Ind. to Basil R. Reed and Fredela (Bartley) Reed. He married Betty Jane (Fearnow) Brothers on January 12, 1990.

Leonard graduated in 1964 from Frankfort High School, where he was a varsity football player for the Hot Dogs.  He attended Purdue Extension for business, attended IUPUI for his Master Firefighter and Tactics and attended Ivy Tech for his EMT licensing. He worked as a chemist and retired from Firestone Industrial Products and then worked in maintenance at Wesley Manor for 17 years.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and was called to active duty from 6/24/1964 until 12/19/1964.  Leonard was an Eagle Scout , EMT, former fire chief in Kirklin, volunteered at the food pantry and liked to hunt and fish. He loved & cherished all the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his Wife:  Betty Reed of Frankfort, Son:  Rodney (Beth) Reed of Louisville, KY, Betty’s Son:  Tracy (Vickie) Brothers of Russiaville, Betty’s Daughter:  Angela (Dennis) Freidline of Frankfort,  their little boy, golden doodle “Spunky”, Brother:  Larry (Patricia) Reed of Frankfort, 10 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren and several nieces & nephews also survive.  He is preceded by his parents and brother Leland Reed.

Celebration of Life

 Visiting will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Gordon Smith will officiate.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Hero’s Section.  Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 2056 E.
