Library Receives Racial Equity Collection Development Grant

The Frankfort Community Public Library announces a grant award from the Indiana Humanities to develop a collection of materials focusing on racial equality through a humanitarian lens.

From the Indiana Humanities website, “Our goal is to help Hoosiers think, read and talk about racial injustice and systematic racism…”. This collection will be used to create book club kits for county-wide use, especially in conjunction with FCPL’s Project Lit Chapter. Our Library hopes to share these books and the conversation with citizens and inspire personal reflection, group book discussions, virtual events, and dialog on social media. All the materials chosen for this collection are critically acclaimed and interesting works that will appeal to readers of all ages. Book club kits will be available for check-out to schools, homeschool groups, or clubs. Additionally, virtual events will be hosted by all our locations.

Be sure to watch our social media for book talks, promotions, and more information. We can be found on Instagram @myfcpl & @theYALibrarian, the Frankfort Community Public Library and FCPL Teens Facebook pages, Twitter @myfcpl & @projectlitFCPL, and the Library YouTube channel.

This program has been made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities with funds from the Lilly Endowment Inc.
