Lila Woods, 95, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born March 7, 1931, in Big Rapids, Michigan to Harris and Anna (Lovell) Challender. She married Conrad “Woody” Woods on July 7, 1950, in Luther, Michigan, and he survives.
Lila was a graduate of Luther High School, class of 1949. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. Her and her husband had a heart for children and caring for others. They were foster parents for 76 foster children and eventually adopted three of them. Lila attended of Bethel Bible Holiness Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning vegetables, and playing games and making memories with her family.
Along with her husband of nearly 76 years, Lila is survived by her children, Paul Woods, Philip (Ruth) Woods, Jason Woods, Esther Woods, and Dorcas (Jerry) Point; Foster Child, Kerry (Beatrice) Ward; sisters, Annajean Challender, Bessie Reed and Dorothy Coney; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughters Lisa (Jeff) Waters and Geisla Owl; a grandchild, Mitchel Waters; sisters, Pauline Knudson, Josephine Ruppert, Betty Carroll, Lucille Coon; and brothers, Harris “Bud” Challender, John Challender, Glen Challender, and Kenneth Challender.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm, at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Entombment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Keith Waggoner will officiate. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
