Local communities recently received more than $2.4 million in state matching grants to improve roads and bridges, according to State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo).
Established in 2016, the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has awarded nearly $400 million in state funds to local projects around the state on a 50/50 matching basis.
“Ensuring the state’s infrastructure is updated and in good condition is not only vital to keeping travelers safe but also for supporting our local economy,” VanNatter said. “Investing in roads and bridges, especially in rural areas, strengthens our communities by connecting Hoosiers to services, jobs and each other.”
According to VanNatter, nine nearby communities and Clinton County were awarded grants:

VanNatter said projects eligible for funding through Community Crossings include road resurfacing and preservation, and bridge rehabilitation or replacement.

The Indiana Department of Transportation will be accepting the next round of applications in January of 2019.
