Main Street Christmas Parade Set for Saturday Afternoon

The annual Christmas Parade sponsored by Frankfort Main Street will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in downtown Frankfort. The theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas in Toyland.”

All units should be decorated to reflect the parade theme. The top three units will be judged on the following criteria to qualify for prize money — parade theme, originality and detail. First place overall winner gets $200, second place receives $100 and third place gets $50.

After the Christmas parade, individuals can visit Santa at the house in Veterans Park. Hours are 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, December 1; Friday, December 7; Saturday, December 8; Friday, December 14; Saturday, December 15; Friday, December 21; and Saturday, December 22. Hours are 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 2; Sunday, December 9; Sunday, December 16; and Sunday, December 24. Hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6; Monday, December 10 through Thursday, December 13; and Monday, December 17 through Thursday, December 20. Christmas Eve hours on Monday, December 24 are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Santa Express will run every Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m. beginning December 1 through December 22. Board the Santa Express at Veteran’s Park in downtown Frankfort and experience a ‘Journey of a Light Time’ through more than one million Christmas lights. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for kids. Individuals need to RSVP by calling 765-654-4081. Cookies and hot chocolate are included with your tax deductible donation.

The 2018 Scavenger Hunt is now on through December 22. Frankfort Main Street will hide 10 bells a week throughout the Downtown Frankfort Historic District. Each bell has a prize value of at least $10 from participating businesses and there are prizes for adults and kids (bells are different, see Main Street Facebook page for pictures). When you find a bell, take it to the business that is listed on the tag to redeem your prize. Participating business will take your picture with bell and prize and tag the Frankfort Main Street Facebook page.

Main Street will post a clue at least every Monday, maybe more, on its Facebook page. Bells are just in downtown Frankfort. They are all over inside and out.
