Marion C. “Shorty” Rhine, 101, of Pendleton, Ind., died July 1, 2022 at Fall Creek Retirement Village, Pendleton. He was born March 29, 1921 in Kirklin, Ind. to Ithmar “IC” & Sarah A. (Merrill) Rhine. His marriage was to Mary Loueva Pruitt on August 3, 1958 Logansport, Ind. and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2020.
Shorty attended Forest and Scircleville schools and was a 1940 graduate of Rossville High School. A farmer, he had also worked at Kent Canning, Russ Ford Garage and Mallory Controls, retiring from there on May 1, 1983. He had formerly attended Michigantown Wesleyan Church. Shorty enjoyed visiting his cousin in Wyoming and making new born baby hats for over 12 years.
Family:
Nieces: Rebecca Storey of Anderson and Martha Roach of Frankton, special Friends: Nancy Dale and Carolene Summers, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Rhine, and sisters, Martha Hinton, Roberta Evans and Annabelle Wooten.
Funeral Services:
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Whiteman Cemetery. No visiting is planned. Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International. Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S.
