Marion “Honk” Cox

Marion “Honk” Cox, 74, a life-long Kirklin resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.  He was born May 10, 1944, in Frankfort, to Virgil J. and Lila Mae (Grubbs) Cox.

Marion attended Clinton Central High School.  He had worked as a custodian at Clinton Central High School for 32 years before retiring.  Throughout his life, Marion raised Quarter Horses.  He had a true passion and dedication for animals; Marion took in animals others could not keep and cared for a menagerie of animals.  He enjoyed his outdoor flowers and gardening and could be seen around town with his dog, Misty “Baby Girl.”

Surviving Marion are his sisters, Virgie (Ken) Smith, of Kirklin, and Chris Anderson, of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.  Although Marion did not have his own children, he thought of his friends, Scott & Tonia Asher, of Kirklin, as his own in addition to their children, Levi, Luke, and Gage.

In addition to his parents, Marion is preceded in death by his brothers, Bud Cox, James R. Cox, Charles R. Cox, and Don Cox; and one sister, Vera Henderson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Minister Frankie Pilley will officiate.  Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin.  In lieu of flowers and to honor Marion’s love of animals, memorials may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
