Mary Ellen (Nelson) LaReau, 88, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Aperion Care of Frankfort. She was born May 31, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Marvin & Evelyn (Rassmusen) Nelson. On August 4, 1951, Mary married Charles M. LaReau at St. Bernard’s Church in Omaha; he preceded her in death on October 8, 2006.
Surviving Mary are her children, Kathy (Mike) Perry of Frankfort, Jackie (Nathan) Harrison of Spring, TX, Annette (Tim) Corson of Colorado Springs, Bill (Janet) LaReau of Woodland Park, CO, and Andy (Cheri) LaReau, of Roswell, NM; grandchildren, Chris Perry, Shana Perry, Jim Harrison, John Harrison, Luke Harrison, Stephen LaReau, Chrystal Sappington, and T.J. Sappington; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Carol (Tom) Masters of North Bend, NE; sisters-in-law, Marlys Daughtery of South Windsor, CT, Wilda Pritchard of Lafayette, and Wilma Dexter Elm Grove, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Nelson; grandson, Johnny LaReau; great grandson, Carson Perry; and great granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Harrison.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. prior to the gathering. Memorial funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Frankfort, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Chris Miller presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 600 St. Mary’s Ave., Frankfort, IN, 46041.
