Mary Ellen Marley

Mary Ellen Marley, 97, Frankfort, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Wesley Manor.  She was born December 30, 1925, in Kokomo to William Stanley and Opal (Carter) Kelsey.  She married Claude Marley on November 12, 1964. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2020.

Mary Ellen was a 1943 graduate of Crawfordsville High School.  She worked for Rost Jewelers, The Indianapolis Times, and IT&T Publishing prior to retiring in 1986. She attended Frankfort Bible Holiness Church.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a keen interest in traveling.  She enjoyed traveling to 49 states as well as to many other countries.

A resident of Lebanon for 25 years, Mary Ellen moved with her husband to Frankfort in September 2005 after having lived for 13 years in Daytona Beach, FL.  In her years as a Floridian, Mary Ellen was a member of Daytona Beach Baptist Church, where she and her husband served as directors of the Senior Citizens Young at Heart Ministry and as hosts to numerous college students whom they entertained in their home.

Mary Ellen is survived by five nieces and nephews: Becky Moffit Gillan, Paul Kelsey, Carolyn (Greg) Kelsey Smith, Michael (Julie) Stergar, and Susan (David) Stergar Sheets; and several additional nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wilfred Kelsey; her sister, Anna Emmons; and her niece Linda Kelsey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 12pm until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Pastor Mark Mowery will officiate.  Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Gardens in Whitestown at 3pm.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
