Mary Frances Long, 101, of Colfax, passed away August 13, 2026 in her home. She was born on September 21, 1924 in Clinton County to Martin L. and Ruth Marie (Maish) Dunn. She married Melvin Long on December 2, 1945 and he preceded her in 2000.
Mary was a life-long Colfax area resident and graduate of Scircleville High School. She was a farmer’s wife and had worked as a bank teller. She played in the Freddie Shaffer Band for 5 years. Mary was a “Pepsiholic” and enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, playing the piano, word searches, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Surviving are her son: Roger Long of Colfax, sister: Carolyn Brant of Frankfort, sister-in-law: Connie Dunn of Frankfort, grandchildren: Morgan Long of Frankfort and Dakota (Mia) Long of Colfax, great-grandchildren: Benson, Armani, and Everly, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Max, Keith, Regina, Georgie, and Joyce.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort.
