Mary Katherine Woodruff

Mary Katherine Woodruff, 97, of Frankfort, was called home to her beloved Lord on November 1, 2021 at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.  She was born on April 8, 1924 in Clinton County to George R. and Edith L. (Kressley) Miller.  Mary was the eldest of 7 children: Jim, Paul, Dale, Bert, Gert, and John Miller.  She was a graduate of Rossville High School.  She married Clinton Woodruff on April 12, 1942 in Greencastle and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1989.  Together they raised 5 children: Roy, Sharon, Bob, Dick, and Kenny Scott, a foster son.  She loved her Lord and her family.

In 1946, she and her husband returned from overseas, together they ran and owned AAA Heating and Plumbing, which is still family owned.  She worked as secretary for the business for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.

Mary and three close friends, Roy, Joan, and Ron, supported Pastor Tom Bartley with Meals on Wheels, on the west side of Indianapolis, by serving soups and sandwiches to the needy for 3 years.

Mary served as Volunteer Chaplain for Wesley Manor for 10 years.  She received the 2010 Chaplain Award.  In 2011, she received a Random Act of Kindness Award presented by the City of Frankfort, submitted by J. Cichinski.  Mary was an accomplished seamstress, making 34 quilts over the years and giving them all to family and friends.  Mary was a very giving person who never met a stranger.  She provided care, comfort, and cheer to many throughout her lifetime.  She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.

Surviving are her Sons: Roy L. (Joy) Woodruff and Richard (Linda) Woodruff both of Frankfort; Brothers: Bert C. Miller of Frankfort and John R. Miller of California; Sister: Gert M. Quick of Michigantown; 8 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers: Jim, Paul, and Dale; her daughter: Sharon; her son: Bob; her foster son: Kenny Scott; great-grandson; and her great friend: Roy Glover.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow in Clinton County Mausoleum at Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort.  Memorial donations may be made in Mary’s honor to Heart of Fire Church, 3000 E.
