Mary L. (Pennock) Glass, age 86, of Frankfort and formerly of Tipton, Indiana went to be with her Lord on Saturday May 18, 2019 at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She was born in Indianapolis on August 29, 1932 to Clifford and Lillian (Dennis) Pennock. On September 6, 1950 she married Robert “Bob” Glass in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Tipton, and they shared over 65 years of marriage together prior to Bob’s passing on February 29, 2016.
Mary graduated in 1950 from Tipton High School where she was a varsity cheerleader among other school activities. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church and was active in CYC, was the Junior Church Leader, and helped in Vacation Bible School at Lake Andes, S.D. Indian Mission for 30 years. Mary retired from Delco Electronics in 1987 after serving more than 37 years with General Motors. In her spare time Mary enjoyed crocheting, fishing, being a prankster and an entertainer (The Bag Lady) at birthday parties. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and cherished the time spent with her family, especially those annual summer camping vacations.
Mary’s survivors include her three children; Robert Glass and his wife Sue, Larry Glass and his wife Carol, and Patricia Lee and her husband Rick. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Carrie Carter, Erin Dailey, Jeremy Glass, Elizabeth Turner, Daniel Captain and Ethan Glass, along with 12 great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings, Doris Matthews and Wayne Pennock.
Funeral services are set for 10 AM on Thursday May 23, 2019 at the Ash Street Wesleyan Church located at 540 North Ash Street in Tipton, IN. Calling will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday May 22, 2019 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 726 East North Street in Tipton. Pastor Mark Mowery will be officiating. Interment will take place in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Gideons International.
