Mary Lou Staton, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville, Indiana. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 18, 1938, a daughter of the late Earnest Eber and Margaret (Haines) Eber.
Mary was a 1956 graduate of Akron High School and went to business college in Fort Wayne, Indiana for one year.
She was married to Dean Cox in 1958 for 25 years. In 1986 she was married to Charles E. Staton in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2021.
Mary and her husband moved to a small lake lot called Town Lake in Akron, Indiana for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed fishing on the lake and watching the surrounding wildlife. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, and baking. Mary had a knack for creating delicious treats and especially took delight in making pies.
Mary was a faithful member of the Omega Baptist Church in Akron, Indiana and she was a teachers aid at Union Elementary in Zionsville for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan (David) Hughes; stepchildren, Joe (Diane) Staton, Phil (Kathy) Staton and Dianna (Dave) Bartolazz; thirteen grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and brother, Philip (Carol) Eber.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, David Dean Cox.
Funeral Services are planned for 12:00 noon, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
