Mary Frances Oaks, 86, Frankfort, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at IU Health Arnett Hospital. She was born July 14, 1936, in Boyston to Paul and Sylvia (Helmberger) Johnson. She married Thomas Ayres, Sr. They divorced and she married Daniel F. Oaks on December 24, 1983. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2001.
Mary was a graduate of Frankfort High School. She worked several jobs over her years, including Chrysler Corporation, Mallory Controls, and TM Morris. She enjoyed bowling, shopping, fishing trips in Canada, and time with her family.
Mary is survived by her son, Thomas (Tye) Ayres, Jr., five grandchildren, Kema (Thomas) Shenk, Stephanie Ayres, Jeremiah McDonald, Adriane Ayres, and Brooke Ayres; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a son-in-law, Daniel McDonald.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lucinda McDonald, and grandchildren, Angel Ayres and Dani McDonald.
Visitation will be held from Friday, September 9, 2022, from 1-3pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort with a graveside service to follow at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo. Arrangements are with Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Messages of condolence may be left at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
