Maryalice Skiles

Maryalice Skiles, 89, Rossville, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Milner Community Health Care.  She was born in Carroll County on January 2, 1933 to Roy and Mary (Holmes) Long.  She married Robert E. Skiles on March 9, 1955 in Cutler.  He preceded her in death on January 9, 2014.

Maryalice was a 1951 graduate of Cutler High School and a 1955 graduate of Home Hospital School of Nursing.  She served as the school nurse for the Rossville Consolidated School District for 18 years until her retirement in 1979.  She was a former member of the Monticello Christian Church, and attended Rossville Presbyterian Church.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Delphi, the Indiana Nurses Health Professions, and the American Red Cross.  She was also the past president of the Rossville American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering on the Honor Flights.  She enjoyed traveling, fishing, sewing, going out to eat at new restaurants, and was an avid college basketball fan, especially IU Basketball.

Maryalice is survived by her children, Suzanne (Johnny) Salazar, Mark (Becky) Skiles and Lynn (Danae) Skiles; grandchildren, Selena (Joshua) Russell, Morgan Yelton and Devin (Natalie Italiano) Salazar; and great grandchildren, Alexandra, Matthias and Audrinna Yelton, Alaya and Hailey Medansky, Hazelynn Italiano and Louie Salazar-Italiano.

Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Long; and great grandchild, Macy Medansky.

Visitation will be held, Sunday, May 8, 2022, from 1pm until the time of the service at 3pm at Rossville Presbyterian Church.  Pastor John Everett will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Milner Community Health Care and St. Elizabeth Hospice.  Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
