Maurice “Maurie” Davies

Maurice “Maurie” Davies , age 86, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026 at Mulberry Health. He was born May 12, 1939 to Alvin and Leona (Sheets) Davies in Frankfort. His first marriage was to Sharon Blacker, in which he had his wonderful sons Brian and James. His second marriage was to Barbara Imel and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2022.

Maurie graduated from Rossville High School with the Class of 1957 and went on to continue his education at Purdue University. He joined the National Guard shortly thereafter. Maurie worked as a farmer for some time, later he went on to work at Staley’s in Lafayette, where he retired in 2004. He was a former member of the Freemasons, where he formed many lasting friendships. Maurie could often be found at local auctions, bidding on antiques—especially when he knew a friend was in need. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and rarely missed an opportunity to tinker on a project or tend to his lawn. Maurie took great pride in his farming heritage, carrying on that legacy alongside his sons as they raised livestock and farmed his family’s land. Above all, Maurie was devoted to his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them fiercely and wholeheartedly.

He is survived by his sons, Brian “Scott” Davies and James (Lindsay) Davies; Step-children, David Lawler, Brad Lawler, and Terri Jo (Scott) Reese; sister, Sue (Fred) Resner; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maurie is preceded in death by his parents and wife; step-son, Michael Lawler; and brothers, Charles Davies and Major Richard Davies.
