Maurice William “Bill” Mayer, 73, of Frankfort, died at 2:24 p.m. September 29, 2018 at Franciscan Health, Lafayette, Ind. Born January 11, 1945 in Detroit, MI. He married Linda Myers Hunsberger on February 4, 2000 and she survives.
Bill was a 1963 graduate of Westville, Ind. High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1968-1972. Bill lived in Wichita, KS, Laporte, Ind., and New Buffalo, Michigan, before moving to Frankfort in 1978. He started working for Indiana Bell and retired from AT&T after 42 years of service. Bill formerly attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Frankfort, was a member of Pioneer Telephone Group and Frankfort Optimist Club.
He is survived by: Wife: Linda Myers Hunsberger of Frankfort, 3 Sons: James Ward Mayer of Virginia Beach, VA, John Brian (Karen) Mayer of Virginia Beach, VA, Matt (Kendra) Karner of Carmel, IN, Daughter: Jennifer Lyn Mayer of Terre Haute, IN, Sister: Corrine Orzech of Michigan City, IN, and 11 Grandchildren.
Funeral Services:
Family graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Romney, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
