Maxine Wilson

Maxine Doris Wood Wilson, 95, passed away on June 10, 2021.

Maxine was born on September 7, 1925 to Guy and Nora Wood in West Creek, Indiana and spent most of her life in Lowell, Indiana.  She came to live the last few years of her life in Frankfort, Indiana, residing at Wesley Manor Retirement Community for her final time on earth.  She now is residing in heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ!

Maxine married Ernest Clifford Wilson on December 2, 1942 in an elopement across state lines before he was enlisted in the US Air Force.   Maxine cared for Ernest for many years after his health required him to be home-bound.  In addition to being his loving care provider, Maxine also worked throughout her life as a hotel and restaurant manager, child care provider, and school cafeteria worker.  She loved spending time with family and friends, often caring for those who needed it.  She also served faithfully at her home church, the Lowell Church of Christ.  She loved yard sales, playing cards, gardening, and making her house a welcoming home for all who came in the back door.

Ernest preceded Maxine in death in 1989.  Maxine and Ernest had four children:  an infant Gail Ruth Wilson and a daughter Doris Ann Miller, both who have preceded her in death.  Maxine and Ernest’s two sons survive:  Ernest Steve (Judi) Wilson, of Frankfort, Indiana and David Allan (Char) Wilson of Jacksonville, North Carolina.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  All of her family has been blessed to call her Mom and Grandma and experience her love in their lives.  In addition to her immediate family, Maxine was preceded in death by her siblings Wayne (Georgie) Wood, Kurt (Hazel) Wood, and Pauline (Harold) Fuller, and is survived by her brother Clayton (Sarah) Wood of Tucker, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held at Sheet’s Funeral Home, 604 E Commercial Avenue, Lowell, Indiana on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. CST.  Visitation with the family will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. CST.  Burial immediately following the service will take place at West Creek Cemetery, 20395 Calumet Avenue, Lowell.  A second memorial service will be held at a later time in Frankfort, Indiana for friends and family as well.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lowell Church of Christ, 299 N Burr St, Lowell 46356 or to Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles in her memory.  Goodwin Funeral Home of Frankfort, Indiana assisted with local arrangements.
