The follow is a note from Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes on the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Today marks what would have been Dr. Martin Luther King’s 89th birthday. In remembering and celebrating his life, we think about his courage and drive to make our society – and all of us – better and stronger, demonstrating resilience in the face opposition.
Often, striving for improvement, whether it’s personal or professional, done on behalf of an organization, company or a community takes real persistence. While challenging everyone to improve the world around them through organized protests and making their voices heard, Dr. King was the definition of a peaceful protester; a leader dedicated to non-violence. He was all about progress. He relentlessly pursued societal improvements for the betterment of our nation and world.
His quote, if you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward is an important reminder for all of us. Each of us doing our part to improve the world around us is a meaningful action to honor such an inspiring leader.
