History will remember Mayor McBarnes for the many things he was able to accomplish during his tenure. The renovation of a historic landmark, the former Frankfort High School, but in 1892, more lovingly known as ‘Old Stoney’ was among one of his more notable accomplishments.

Old Stoney has also been the city building for more that 24 years and has withstood the test of time including: students, fire, vandalism, leaking roof, outdated electrical, weak foundation, broken windows, inadequate sewer system, over work HVAC system and an overall facelift. After a $4 million plus renovation, Old Stoney is beautiful and has an Art Deco sculpture by Jon Magnus Jonson in the front lawn and will be standing for another 100 years.

The Clinton County Historical Society is pleased to recognize Mayor Chris McBarnes as a member of the 2019 Clinton County Gems.
