McBarnes Will Make Big Announcement About His Future

CHRIS McBARNES

Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes stopped just short of announcing a decision on his political future during Friday morning’s Partyline program on WILO-AM & FM.

“So many people have approached me about continuing our mission and our fight for this city and I have just been truly humbled by that,” said McBarnes. “I give all the glory to God for that and here’s where (his wife) Samantha and I are at. We’re not going to let this community go backward. We’re going to be making a big announcement here in the next couple of weeks. I encourage everyone to keep their ear to the ground and the fight will go on.

“We’re going to let God lead us in this and we’ve done a lot of praying,” McBarnes continued. “We’re going to continue the fight for Frankfort because this is a fight worth having and we want to see this community become all it can be for all our children and our future grandchildren.”

Earlier this year, McBarnes announced he would not seek a third term as mayor, a position he took over seven years ago at age 23.

At this time, the only announced candidate for mayor is Frankfort City Councilman Lewis Wheeler.
