Melvin H. Mohler, 88, of Rossville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at his home.  He was born in Logansport on May 16, 1938, to Harry and Dora (Royer) Mohler.  He married Eva Metzger on August 14, 1960, and she survives.

Melvin attended Carrollton High School.  He worked for Kirby Risk for 40 years until his retirement in 2000.  He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and spending time in his woodwork shop.  He had a passion for people, and loved socializing and caring for others.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved spending time with his family.  Melvin was an Elder and lifelong member of Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church where he served faithfully until his passing.

Along with his wife of 65 years, Melvin is survived by his children, Kristi (Larry) Miller, Lisa (Ivan) Lavy, and Beth (Kurt) Welk; twin brother, Marvin (Kathryn) Mohler; brother-in-law, Robert (Maxine) Metzger; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and brother, Harold (Margaret) Mohler; brothers-in-law, David (Shirley) Metzger and Daniel (Dorothy) Metzger.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 2 to 5pm and 6 to 8pm at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church.  Funeral service will be held 10am, Monday, June 1, at the church.  Burial will follow at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.  Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel is assisting with the services.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
