Memorial Day programs at Veterans Park in Frankfort and the Michigantown Lions/Alumni Community Building have been announced for Monday, May 28.
The schedule for the Memorial Day Program at Veterans Park begins at 10 a.m. with the following schedule of events:
Introductions — Mel Betts.
Invocations — Rev. Kelly Kurth, First Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Pledge of Allegiance — Boy Scout Troop 336, Mulberry.
Reading — Millard See, Sons of the Legion Post 12.
Flounders Field — Rose Metcalfe, Auxiliary President VFW 1110.
Memorial Address — Kevin Evans, Center Township Trustee.
Star Spangled Banner — Logan and Kayla Tillman.
Wreath Ceremony — American Legion, VFW and Auxiliaries, DAR/CAR.
Benediction — Rev. Kelly Kurth.
Firing Squad — Marine Corps League #967.
Taps — Larry McBee, Past Commander American Legion Post 12.
Morrison Street Bridge (Honoring Sailors and Marines Buried at Sea)
Reading — Carol Geske, American Legion Post 12 Ladies Auxiliary.
Flowers Cast on Water — All auxiliaries and public.
Benediction — Rev. Kelly Kurth.
Firing Squad — Marine Corps League #967.
Taps — Larry McBee.
Sandwiches and salads at VFW Post 1110 will be available after the services. Programs provided by Goodwin Funeral Home and Archer Weston Cremation Service.
Flags will be placed at cemeteries for individual markers. If a marker is missed, please stop by the VFW or American Legion to pick up a flag.
In Michigantown, a Memorial Day Service will be held at 9 a.m. at the Michigantown Lions/Alumni Community Building. A Memorial Day breakfast precedes the service from 7-9 a.m. Served by the Michigantown Lions Club with assistance by Boy Scout Troop 311. Proceeds to assist scout program. The breakfast is free for all veterans and active service members.
Speaker will be Dick Sutton, Korean War veteran and Honor Flight Participant. The Kirklin American Legion will provide Colors and Taps. The Fun Time Band will be in attendance and there will be readings and patriotic songs.
