Merrill M. Spencer, 91, of Frankfort, Ind., died October 28, 2018 at I.U. Health Frankfort Hospital. He was born May 2, 1927 in Kingswood, KY to Oran W. & Sadie Mae (Willett) Spencer.
A 1946 graduate of Frankfort Pilgrim High School and attended the Frankfort Pilgrim College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1948-1952. For 20 years, he owned and operated the Spencer Barber Shop. He also worked in home remodeling and then retired as an electrician and carpenter for Risse Builders. He was a member of the Victory Chapel in Frankfort.
He is survived by: 2 daughters: Sandra Kincaid of New Castle, IN, Cathy Simms of Tipton, IN, 2 sisters: Rebecca Ficklin of Clarksville, TN, Grace Dupin of Kernerville, NC, brother: Willis Spencer of Robards, KY, special adopted family: James & Glenda (Smith) Barnard and their children, Martin, Mildred, Micah, Jonelle, Merilee and Mercy, 6 grandchildren, 6 adopted grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 9 adopted great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Margaret Cook, Bertha Hensley and Agnes Crecelius.
Funeral Services:
Visitation will be Noon-3 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Victory Chapel Church, 196 S. West St., Frankfort. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Victory Chapel Church. Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S.
