Michael Fred Babb, 76, Lafayette, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He was born in Lafayette to Leland and Eleanor (McKinney) Babb. He married Shirley Yost on April 27, 2002.
Michael was a 1963 graduate of Dayton High School. He then went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1968-1972. After returning from the Air Force, he attended Purdue University before transferring to Indiana University and earning his bachelor’s degree in 1980. He worked as an Auditor for the State Board of Accounts until his retirement in 2004. Michael was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. He was a loving uncle that enjoyed reading, researching Genealogy, and taking pictures of nature.
Along with his wife of 20 years, Michael is survived by his father-in-law, Robert Yost; cousins and Shirley’s family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held, Monday, May 2, 2022, from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm at Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery.
