Michael “Mike” James Dunk

Michael “Mike” James Dunk, 53, of Thorntown, Ind., died July 19, 2023 unexpectedly in Lafayette. He was born March 11, 1970 in Lafayette to Eldon Clair & Mary Alice (Gartland) Dunk.  He married Angie Smith on May 14, 2011 in Frankfort and she survives.

Mike was a 1988 graduate of Frankfort High School.  He attended Ball State University for 2 years in communications and later transferred to Purdue University to study Turf Science and Agronomy. He was Grounds Superintendent for Coyote Crossing for the past 5 years. He was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and attended New Hope Church.  Mike was an IU sports enthusiast and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, antiquing, and took pride in caring for his lawn and flowers.  He loved traveling and coaching any sporting event that Cannon participated in.  His greatest joy was being with his family.  Mike will be remembered for what a great husband and father he was.

Surviving along with his Wife: Angie Dunk of Thorntown are his Sons:  Cannon Dunk of Thorntown and Austin Campbell of Indianapolis; Father:  Eldon (Marcia) Dunk of Florida; Brother:  John David “Dave” Dunk (Marie Bellville) of Michigan; Half Sister:  Dawn; Mother-in-law: Karen Smith of Kirklin; Sisters-in-law: Crystal Wallsmith of Frankfort and Nikki (David) Batt of Delphi; and Several Nieces, Nephews, and a Great Niece.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dunk and a nephew.

A Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort.  Pastor Shan Sheridan will officiate.  Friends may visit 2 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Western Boone Youth Football or Frankfort Boys and Girls Club.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com, where you may leave a condolence.
