Michigantown Youth League Issues Reports Of Vandalism As Opening Day Draws Closer

According to the Michigantown Youth League, recent acts of vandalism and mischief at the ballpark has caused the necessity for incidents to be reported to law enforcement and reminders to be issued regarding the park.

The Youth League stated that the ballpark is not an owned property of the Town of Michigantown nor a section of the Michigantown Park, which classifies the ballpark as an amenity owned by Michigan Township and is operated by the Michigantown Youth League.

The league issued a reminder that the ballpark is only to be utilized by registered athletes and coaches, and a parent must be present with the athlete. The league reminded the community that the ballpark operates with video surveillance to help capture any vandalism or mischief that is conducted in the area. Any instances where vandalism occurs or is suspected will be reported to law enforcement according to the league.

“We have had dugouts vandalized, drug paraphernalia left in dugouts, rocks thrown at our buildings and damage done to our fields in the last year,” the league released. “We work very hard to keep our ballpark operating and in good condition. Board members and coaches are not paid to be here. We all volunteer out of the kindness of our hearts and our desire to give our kids a nice facility to grow up with. Please be respectful.”
