Mildred A. Morrison, 93, of Rossville, passed away April 4, 2023, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette following a brief illness.
Mildred was born October 26, 1929, in Gainesville, Florida, to Herman and Mildred “Lucille” (Rainey) Stafford. She was also raised by her stepfather, Obie Stafford.
Mildred’s family moved from Florida to Kentucky, before making their home in Indiana in 1936. After a few years living in Burlington, they moved to Rossville, where Mildred graduated from Rossville High School in 1944. Mildred worked for Jules’ L. Simon in Frankfort from 1944 to 1977. She then worked for 18 years as an inspector at Landis-Gyr before retiring in 1993 and for 10 years at the Hornet’s Nest. She was a member of the Rossville Bible Fellowship.
Mildred married James Richard Morrison on June 30, 1951, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1965.
Surviving Mildred are her daughters, Anita (Rick) Young of Lafayette and Linda Stingley of Rossville; grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Baker of Lafayette, Melinda (Kevin) Miller of Cutler, and Brooke (Bryan) Wagoner of Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Haven Baker, Kaylee Baker, McKenna Baker, Jaxson Miller, and Emery Wagoner; brother, Frank (Sharon) Stafford of Rossville; sister, Patricia (Robert) Wells of Delphi; brother-in-law, Don (Teresa) Morrison of Frankfort; a niece and several nephews; and a longtime friend, Janet Zuther of Rossville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and a great aunt, Ruby (James) Stewart.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel with Pastor Chris Albin officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossville Cemetery.
