Milton Delayne “Del” Hughes, Loving husband and father of three, has gone to be with the Lord, passing away peacefully at home.
Del was born on September 26, 1938, in Desloge, MO to Arthur and Gladys (Fisher) Hughes. The family later moved to Farmington, MO, where he graduated from high school in 1956. He attended the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1963. Del also received an honorary diploma from the Class of 1967 from Frankfort Senior High School, where his wife attended and graduated. He was a life member of the Mt. Vernon Illinois Masonic Lodge No. 31. He worked at various pharmacies during his career, retiring from Ball Memorial Hospital, now Indiana University Health, in 2004.
Del is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan (Brown) Hughes of Anderson; daughter, Barbara Hughes Ambrose and granddaughters, Autumn and Eden of Buford, GA; son, Robert Hughes and granddaughter, Nicole of Flowery Branch, GA; daughter, Amber G.T. and husband, Paul Ptaszenski of Anderson, IN; his favorite cat, Sugar; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; mother and father; sister, Marilyn; aunts and uncles; and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, suggested donations are St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Frankfort, IN; the American Heart Association, or the charity of one’s choice.
