Motor Vehicle Accident Causes Serious Bodily Injury

At approximately 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Boone County Deputies were dispatched to U.S. 52 and 700 N for an accident involving a white 2011 International box truck, driven by Jamar Odom, 29 years of age from Indianapolis and an orange Allis Chalmers farm tractor driven by Joseph Garst, 66 years of age from Thorntown.

The tractor was traveling in the right lane south bound on U.S. 52. For unknown reason the box truck struck the rear of the tractor, causing the tractor to leave the road way and come to a rest facing west on the grass shoulder of U.S. 52.

Garst was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in critical condition. Odom was treated at the scene and released by medics. The accident is still under investigation by the Boone County Fatal Accident Crash Team.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved at this time.
