Motorcyclist Killed in Afternoon Crash on I-465

A man was killed Friday when his motorcycle collided with the back of a car on I-465 this afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m. emergency crews were called to a serious crash on I-465 eastbound at the 3.4 mile marker, on the southside of Indianapolis. First responders found 67 year old Derious Clark of Dunkirk Indiana unconscious and severely injured. Medics from the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived and despite life saving efforts, Mr. Clark was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators believe traffic was backing up on I-465 eastbound east of the 3.4 mile marker. A 2012 Fiat, driven by David Mulinaro of Indianapolis, had stopped due to stopping traffic ahead. Seconds later the 1974 Honda motorcycle, driven by Mr. Clark, crashed into the Fiat. Witnesses told police Clark was wearing a helmet however it appeared to come off during the crash.

There is no further information to release at this time. The left two lanes of I-465 were closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated. Neither drugs nor alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash.
