Clinton County Republican Party Chairman Jim Moyer released the timeline for the mayoral vacancy Friday afternoon. It is as follows:
January 29 — Letter of resignation received.
January 31 — Amended letter of resignation received.
February 4 — Notification of vacancy is mailed on this date.
February 19 — Candidates file declaration no later than this date at 10 a.m.
February 22 — Caucus held on this date at 10 a.m.
February 24 — County Clerk notified of selection on this date.
March 2 — New Mayor takes office on this date at noon.
Moyer said the caucus winner will be determined by a majority of the precincts that are at the caucus. There will be at least 19 precincts represented with the possible addition of two others (Precinct 20 and Precinct 39).
The Mayoral position became available when Mayor Chris McBarnes announced Tuesday he was resigning the position to take the executive director position with The Wyldlife Fund in Wyoming.
