Mulberry Library Unveiling New Addition Saturday

The Mulberry Library has a new addition! A kinetic piece of artwork, or mobile, was installed alongside two new ceiling fans over the front desk area. This moving sculpture, entitled “Creative  Continuum: Part 2,” was created by glass artist Kim VanArsdell as a companion piece to the stained glass windows she created that encircle the building. The shapes of the arms and elements of the mobile are meant to resemble the shapes and lines of the colored glass in the windows.

Artist Kim VanArsdell was persuaded by library patron, previous Board member, and benefactor Gene Marshall to try a brand new medium, aluminum sheeting and tubing, to construct a suitable kinetic piece for the library. After a scale model for the proposed sculpture was submitted for Board approval, the green light was given for the project to move forward. The finished product is a lovely addition to an already beautiful library. Please join us for a reception with the artist on Saturday, May 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the Mulberry Library.
