Kevin Myers has called the Clinton County Highway Department his second home for the past 20-plus years. That all changed Tuesday when Myers said is retiring the agency effective January 29, 2021.
“I think 20 years and a few months is enough and it’s time to move on,” said Myers. “January 29 will be the last day I’ll be on the county payroll.. I’m certainly not going away and disappear. I’ll be around.”
Myers made the announcement at the Clinton County Commissioners meeting this week.
“He’s been kind of automatic,” said Clinton County Commissioners President Josh Uitts. “We never had to worry about what was going on with the highway. We always had confidence in his leadership. The grants we have been able to accumulate over the last four years are worth literally millions of dollars from paving roads to bridges. That’s all part of Kevin’s leadership.”
A year ago, Myers was the president of the Indiana Association of County Highway Engineers and Supervisors plus he is also the senior most tendered highway supervisor in the state of Indiana.
“He’s going to leave some big shoes to fill,” said Uitts.
Ask to how much input he would have is his replacement, Myers said, “It’s kind of up the Commissioners. I’ll do whatever they want me to do in the interim. If they want somebody from within or bring somebody in from the outside, it’ll be their decision. I’ll be there to do whatever they need me to do.”
Myers is also president of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Frankfort.
