National FFA Convention Underway in Downtown Indianapolis

Inside INdiana Business is reporting that the largest convention in the state is underway in downtown Indianapolis. The 91st National FFA National Convention and Expo, which runs through Sunday, is expected to bring in nearly 70,000 visitors and carry a $40 million economic impact.

Last year’s gathering drew a record 67,006 attendees. During an interview last weekend on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, National FFA Chief Executive Officer Mark Poeschl said Indianapolis and Atlanta are now contending for the event in the future. Word on the site for 2025-2031 is slated to be announced in mid-December.

Late last week, Visit Indy and the Capital Improvement Board of Managers in Indianapolis announced plans for a $120 million Indiana Convention Center expansion and hotel construction project designed to retain signature conventions like the FFA and attract some larger events that require more ballroom space and hotel rooms.

Big names expected to make appearances this year at the FFA convention include President Donald Trump on Saturday and country music legend Garth Brooks will perform a private concert for convention attendees Thursday evening.
