National Record Day is set for April 21 and one of the best places to celebrate is Kokomo’s American Dream Hi Fi, located at 109 E. Sycamore Street. This marks the fourth year the store has participated in the event.
“Last year the line was down the block,” said American Dream Hi Fi owner Mike Wilson. “There are limited edition discs that are only available on National Record Store Day, and that brings people in from around the state.”
National Record Store Day was created to shine the light on small, independent record stores.
This year American Dream Hi Fi will feature live music and craft beers as always but with some slight changes.
“This year the live music will be a collection of local musicians from different bands,” Wilson explained. “They will take part in a one-time super jam session. It’s pretty unique.”
Wilson said a special Record Store Day craft beer from Dogfish Head will be available as well.
The store will open at 8 a.m. and will feature almost the entire list of exclusive Record Store Day releases. More information about the releases can be found at recordstoreday.com
American Dream Hi Fi is part of Kokomo’s famed “Geek Street,” which also includes Kokomo Toys & Collectibles and Comics Cubed.
