Neil W. Conner

Neil W. Conner, 89, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away April 6, 2024 in his home.  He was born on November 9, 1934 in Frankfort to Harold W. and Rosa (Pearson) Conner.  He married Janet L. Tribbett on June 20, 1954 in the First United Methodist Church in Frankfort and she survives.

Neil was a 1953 graduate of Frankfort High School.  He worked as a civil engineer for Nickle Plate Railroad 1953-1969, Clinton County Surveyor 1981-1991, City Engineer – Building Inspector 1992-1997, Frankfort Board of Works (serving for two mayors) 1992-1999 & 2004-2008.  He was past president of the Indiana Surveyors Association and was on the board of directors of the Association of Indiana Counties.  He served on the first Utility Board of Frankfort and was a life member and served on the board of directors of the Clinton County Historical Society.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and, along with Rev. Darrell Parris, started the first television ministry Channel 3 in Frankfort.  Neil was a past member of the Frankfort Elks Club and a member on the Ritual Team for 7 years, serving as Leading Knight, Lecturing Knight, and Chaplain.  He was also active in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows where he served with the Cantons, the Grand Lodge, and as District Deputy Grand Master.  He was a 1963-1965 Scout Master of Troop 338.  Neil loved his family, their many sports and activities, friends, church, and serving his community in many ways.

Surviving along with his Wife: Janet are his Son: Rick Conner of Frankfort; Daughter-in-law: Barbara Conner of Lebanon; Grandchildren: Amber (Dustin) Coonrod of Frankfort, Melinda (Ryan) Eli of Frankfort, Kristin (Aaron) Eli of Frankfort, Danielle Conner (Companion: Rhett Davis) of Lebanon, Valerie (Scott) Daughtery of Georgia, and Heather (Sean) Grant of Houston, Texas; 13 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Rosanna (Russell) Anderson of Frankfort; and Sister-in-law: Heidi Conner of Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Russ Conner and Michael Conner, daughter-in-law: Edie Conner, and brother: Phil Conner. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 12, 2024 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from Noon until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.  Following cremation, there will be a Graveside Service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort.  Memorial donations may be made in Neil’s honor to the Clinton County Historical Society, 301 East Clinton Street, Frankfort, IN 46041.  Please visit archerweston.com, where you may share a message with the family.
