The Frankfort Board of Works approved a bid of $24,675.29 for new street signs on Wednesday that will be going up in the city soon.
“We’re getting ready to order about 915 street signs with the new Hot Dog logo on them,” said Frankfort Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe. “Those signs will also be a reflective sign the state now requires like the one that was put up on Maish Road.”
Along with those signs will be 150 galvanized signs of 10 feet and another 250 signs of 12 feet. Forsythe said there is a four-week delivery time from Hall Signs in Bloomington, which is where the signs were purchased from. Forsythe added his department is out getting the locates right now and they will have two guys working on getting them up all year. He said residents should start seeing some of the signs before summer, but added it’s going to be a long process.
The Board of Works also approved the dates for the upcoming spring cleanup. Those dates will be April 30 through May 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Frankfort Street Department on Burlington Avenue.
Forsythe also said the last time he checked with the landfill that their Free Cleanup Day will be held on April 28.
It was also announced that The Farmers Bank Shred Days will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 5 on the courthouse square instead of the bank parking lot next to State Road 28. The reason it had to be moved is the bank is now open on Saturday mornings and that area is needed for customers.
